The West Bend Community Band, also known as the River City Irregulars, are the musical ambassadors for the city of West Bend, Wisconsin and its surrounding communities. The band members pride themselves on serving the community with their musical talents. The band is now in their 40th season. The West Bend Community Band has two additional musical ensembles:
River City Blaskapelle and River City Christmas Brass.
Who We Are
The River City Irregulars is an all-volunteer group of adult musicians with varied music backgrounds who share a passion for concert band music and willingness to share their talents with the community. The band includes instrumental brass, woodwind and percussion sections, and performs concerts and participates in parades throughout the southeastern Wisconsin area from late spring to early fall. Musicians are always welcome to join.
The Music
The band performs a variety of musical selections, including marches, symphonic transcriptions, easy listening pops, swing, show tunes and patriotic selections – hopefully something for everyone! Browse our Repertoire.
Director
Pamela Harrison retired from teaching 5-8th grade band in June 2011 after teaching in the Cedarburg Public Schools for 31 ½ years, although she did come back to teach the CHS Bands from November 2015 until the end of the school year. She attended Waukesha South High School, graduated from Lawrence University Conservatory of Music with an Instrumental Music Education Degree and received her master’s in teaching from Aurora University. From her elementary school days in Manistee, Michigan to her wonderful musical experiences at Waukesha South High School and Music for Youth (currently MYSO), to the exemplary education she received at Lawrence, Pam was surrounded with successful and meaningful music programs with talented and caring teachers throughout her school years. Music Scholarships
Each spring, the West Bend Community Band awards music scholarships to select seventh grade band students from West Bend area schools. The scholarships are awarded to students for attendance at a summer music camp of the applicant’s choosing. Scholarship applications are available from the school band director.
